The Door by Galleria Rossana Orlandi

Our commitment to sustainability, applied to the craft and vision of Scrigno doors..
For The Door, the project presented by Galleria Rossana Orlandi for Milan Design Week 2026, Patricia Urquiola introduces Elianto: a micro-architecture with a triangular plan, entirely clad in CIMENTO®, incorporating dried sunflower residues from post-extraction, a by-product of the food industry supplied by the Italian start-up Agromateriae.

The surface, granular and subtly irregular, lends the Scrigno armoured door an organic, almost living quality. Integrated into the CIMENTO® mix, sunflower residues become a visible narrative element, transforming waste into matter of design.

The door, remains open within the architectural volume, dissolving the boundary between interior and exterior. Inside, the same material shifts into a deeper tone, defining a more intimate and immersive atmosphere. At the centre, a compositional use of sunflower residues highlights the importance of researching abundant natural materials capable of re-entering productive cycles.
